My Other Ex: Women’s True Stories Of Leaving And Losing Friends

Have you ever lost a friend? Was that loss in some ways more painful than the end of a love affair? Women’s friendships so often come to a crossroads at which time two women can try to hold on to the friendship, staying connected, or the friends can take two completely separate paths without each other. Many of the essays in this book are about this moment in time, when both rupture and new beginnings are possible.

There are so many ways that friendships can end, and this book describes 35 of them, from each 35 talented and accomplished contributors. At the heart of each essay is the recognition from each writer that she has lost something very real and very personal, a connection that will never be forgotten.

I am proud to be one of the contributors to this anthology, alongside 34 very talented women writers.

  1. Oh my gosh!
I just received this in the mail. I’d remember purchasing it a while back to support you since you have been such a great friend REALLY acutally reading my Keri rough, rough drafts and the affirming friend that I have discovered in YOU! So buying the book was a NO brainer! BUT… it was my gift to me!!! It is the first book in a long time where I have not skimmed a page to get to the next! I hang on to every word and realize that as far back as Jr. HIgh we are no different. We ALL have insecurities and need validation in our friendships and when we don’t get it, it is devastating. Funny, my husband and I just had this conversation about why I care or get so involved with the people I work with. Well, I guess from the male perspective, they don’t GET it. But this book makes women not feel so alone or so sensitive. We all pretty much feel the same… the stories are all so similar, we dance the dance of getting to know each other, we love that high of new friendship. No matter how old we are or what stage we are in.
I have friends that have been true blue, and it’s not that there hasn’t been chaos or drama in our lives, we just stay steadfast in our friendships. Then there are the ones that last for “a time” they don’t have the sustainability that the ones we can count on one hand do. And like your story, the less we have in common, the more likely it won’t last. Even though the differences kind of drew us to each other for the time we were friends. I don’t want this book to end! I will definitely be writing a review and will probably be purchasing several more copies for my daughter and other friends! Congratulations! I love it!

    1. Diane, I just shared this comment with the group of women who collaborated on My Other Ex with me. You have made my day with your words once again. Thank you for continuing to be so supportive of me and my writing. I am honored to be a part of this book and this amazing group of women.

where can I leave a review that will count? I have to say that this book makes you feel as if we aren’t all crazy! Every story has a description of a feeling I think we all have experienced. I love how you took the other view! As always my favorite!! 😉

      2. Leave one on Amazon! We would all appreciate it and treasure your review if you would take the time to do that. Let me know if you share a review on your blog so I can share it as well! Thank you!

  2. I wrote something about friendship and closure. I’d just experienced a misunderstanding with a childhood friend in the midst of the death of another, a woman I knew since Jr. High who’d been my mentor and go to place when I needed her. As adults, we don’t really fight with our friends. Or at least I never had. But I’d had words with my friend during a visit. I’d finally had it after years of letting her vent but me not being allowed to… I think the poem at the end of this post indicates how confused and hurt I was. Anyway, wanted to share! Can’t wait to buy this book!!!!!
